The instrument system is designed to be simple and conventional, yet very accurate. Femoral canal preparation essentially consists of a femoral neck osteotomy, a distal reaming operation, a proximal tapered conical reamer, and a rasp. The cutting area of the rasp is primarily in the medial calcar region: most of the stem body consists of cylinder and a cone, including the proximal anterior, posterior, and lateral surfaces that match the tapered reamer. The rasp serves as the stem trial, with the modular neck trials that attach to the broach. The modular neck trials engage both the stem trial (rasp) and the femoral implant, which will allow the surgeon to perform a range of motion and stability check prior to final neck selection.
