Richard D. Nikolaev is Chairman of the Board of Directors of OMNIlife Science and has more than 40 years experience in the orthopaedic industry. He has served in senior management positions with DePuy including Executive Vice President from 1971 -1984. He served as the president of Protek, Inc. until it was acquired by Sulzer in 1999. After the Protek acquisition Mr. Nilolaev became Chairman, president and CEO of Orthomet until Orthomet was acquired by Wright medical Technologies where he assumed the role of President and CEO at Wright until his retirement in 1997. Mr. Nikolaev has served on the Board of Directors of a number of other public and private companies and has operated a consulting firm since 1998.
George Cipolletti is the President and CEO of OMNIlife Science and is one of the founders of APEX Surgical LLC. Mr. Cipolletti was the manager for Knee Research for Johnson and Johnson, Professional where he was responsible for all knee product development. He was the Director of Product Development for Joint Medical Products Corporation when the company was acquired by Johnson and Johnson in 1995. In the 1980’s Mr. Cipolletti worked for Baxter Healthcare and Meadox Metals, Inc. in Neurosurgical and Cardiovascular Product Development. Mr. Cipolletti holds a BS in Ceramic Science from Pennsylvania State University and an MS in Bioengineering from Clemson University, where his research involved PMMA bone Cement.
David LaSalle is COO of OMNIlife Science and one of the founders of APEX Surgical, LLC. Mr. LaSalle also worked at Johnson and Johnson professional as a senior Engineer in the Knee product development group. Prior to entering the Orthopedics industry Mr. LaSalle worked at several manufacturing companies. Mr. LaSalle holds a BS in product Design and Manufacturing from the New England institute of Technology and an MBA from Bryant College.
Edward Cheal, PhD. Is Vice President of Research and Development of OMNIlife Science and one of the founders of APEX Surgical LLC. Mr. Cheal was the former Director of Research, Implants at Johnson and Johnson professional where he was responsible for the Research and Development for both the Hip and Knee business units. Prior to joining Johnson and Johnson in 1993, Mr. Cheal was an assistant professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Co-Director of Biomechanics at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Mr. Cheal received his PhD in Medical Engineering and Medical Physics from the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology in 1986, where his research focus included the mechanics of fracture healing, the biological response to implants and the design of joint replacement devices.

Bill Birnie is the Chairman and Managing Partner of Birnie Capital Partners Ltd. and is a director of Medical Innovations Ltd. (OMNIlife Science’s largest shareholder). Mr. Birnie has over 35 years experience in the investment banking industry and formed Birnie Capital Partners Ltd. in the mid 1990’s. Mr. Birnie holds and has held a number of New Zealand Government appointments including the office of Deputy Chairman of the New Zealand Film Commission. Mr. Birnie is also a director of the New Zealand Equestrian Foundation. He was also a founding trustee of the Wellington City’s Westpac Trust Stadium and is a former Chairman of New Zealand’s largest pipfruit exporter, ENZA, Ltd.
Steve Norrie is a director and Partner of Birnie Capital Ltd. and has over 25 years experience in the investment banking industry specializing in Debt and structured finance. Mr. Norrie serves on the boards of a number of Birnie Capital Partners Ltd’s investment entities and was formerly a director of ENZA Ltd.
David Boyd is a Director of Medical Innovations Ltd. and is the Chairman of Enztec Ltd., another Medical Innovations Ltd. Investment entity. Enztec Ltd is a manufacturer of Orthopaedic instruments and supplies a number of Orthopaedic Implant Companies including OMNIlife Science. Mr. Boyd has served on several New Zealand Trade and Industry advisory boards as well as having advised the Cantebury Development Council incubator groups Hi-tech Launch program.
