OMNIlife science is a wholly owned subsidiary of Orthopaedic Synergy, Inc. (OSI).
OSI was incorporated in December 2008 as a holding company for businesses involved in the manufacture, design, and distribution of orthopaedic devices and instrumentation.
Its initial acquisitions were OMNIlife science, Inc. and Enztec Ltd. Enztec is a designer and manufacturer of orthopaedic instruments and custom implants. Their headquarters are in Christchurch, New Zealand.
In early 2010, Orthopaedic Synergy completed the acquisition of Praxim™, S.A., increasing the breadth of its technology and product portfolio. Praxim, Inc. develops advanced automated systems, software and instruments in order to make total knee arthroplasty less-invasive, more reliable, faster and more cost-effective for both patients and surgeons.

Mr. Knobloch joined OMNI in February 2008 after providing marketing consulting services to OMNI for the prior 18 months. He has an extensive 20 year background in orthopaedic sales and marketing, starting as a Product Manager with ACE Medical, Inc., and steadily working his way up through the company until he became Director of Sales and Marketing for DePuy in the Asia Pacific region. Since 1997 he was worked as an executive management consultant with responsibility for marketing and product development for numerous US and International startup orthopaedic companies in the trauma, spine, and joint replacement markets. |
Bob Phelps - Senior Vice President of SalesMr. Phelps joined OMNI in June of 2013 with more than 30 years in the medical device industry with experience in the orthopedics, biologics, women's health, oncology, peripheral and neurovascular interventions and sports medicine businesses. Prior to joining OMNI, Mr. Phelps was Senior Vice President, Global sales for Conformis, Inc., a privately held manufacturer of patient specific knee replacement systems. Under Bob's leadership the company established itself as a market leader in revenue growth and the introduction of patient-specific knee implants and instrument systems. Mr. Phelps has also held many leadership positions with Biomet, Inc., including Vice President of Corporate Distribution, and Vice President of Sales for the BTBS Division (formerly EBI). Before joining Biomet, Mr. Phelps was Vice President of Worldwide Sales & Marketing for Biosphere Medical. He also served as Vice President of Sales for the orthopedic business at Johnson & Johnson where he led the organization to double its revenues. Lawrence S. Battista, PhD - Strategic Sales Vice PresidentLarry Battista’s career in Orthopaedics spans 36 years including management of one of DePuy’s most successful independent distributorships. Larry has also held management positions in sales and sales training for DePuy. Larry has also worked as a sales manager for Wright medical and has been an integral part of OMNI’s sales and marketing efforts for the past 3 years. Larry attended Ohio State University, Cleveland State University and California Coast University and holds a PhD in Philosophy and Management. |
Dennis Colleran - Vice President of Product DevelopmentMr. Colleran brings over 22 years of leadership experience in research, engineering and medical devices primarily focused in the development of implantable orthopedic, arthroscopic and spinal systems. Prior to joining Omni Life Science, Mr. Colleran was Vice President Research and Development at Illuminoss Medical and Innovative Spinal Technologies where he led the Research & Development group in the strategic development of new product lines. Previously Mr. Colleran held key roles of increasing levels of responsibility at Smith + Nephew Inc. and Johnson and Johnson Professional in the areas of research, systems development and strategic product development and planning in the areas of Total Knee Replacement as well as Knee and Shoulder Arthroscopy. Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, Mr. Colleran served with the U.S. Marine Corps and is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. Mr. Colleran received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a MBA from Northeastern University. |
Eeuwout Hoogendijk - Vice President of OperationsMr. Hoogendijk brings over 25 years of operational leadership experience; the most recent 12 years in the orthopedics market. Since August of 1999, Mr. Hoogendijk has played a key leadership role within the operations group at Omni focusing on building Omni’s business process, logistics, manufacturing, IT, and customer service infrastructure. Prior to entering the orthopedics industry, Mr. Hoogendijk held management positions with Growest, Inc. with responsibilities including operations, logistics, supply-chain, service, and IT. |
Robert P. Zoletti - Vice President of Clinical AffairsMr. Zoletti joined OMNI in September 2009. He is a RAPS Certified Regulatory Affairs Professional with over 26 years experience in medical device companies including Becton Dickenson, Mitek, Johnson & Johnson, Cortek and Alphatec Spine. Albert “Skip” Farinha, Vice President of Quality
Skip brings over 25 years of experience in the fields of Operations, Quality and Regulatory Affairs. He has executive experience in early stage medical device companies in the fields of implantables, reusable devices, lasers, ultrasonics and surgical devices, focusing on 6-Sigma Tools of Quality and Operational Excellence. Prior to joining OMNI Life Science, Skip was Vice President of Quality and Regulatory Affairs at OmniGuide Inc., manufacturing CO2 laser systems that utilized a novel flexible band-gap fiber system for micro and minimally invasive surgery. Previously, Skip was Vice President of Quality, Regulatory and Operations for Sontra Medical which developed ultrasonic skin permeation devices for drug delivery and continuous glucose monitoring. Other medical device companies included Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and Haemonetics. Skip attended Bristol Community College and Southeastern Massachusetts University earning degrees in Mechanical Engineering.

Guy L. Mayer served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Ascension Orthopedics, Inc., a company focused on implant technology for the orthopedic extremities market until its acquisition by Integra LifeSciences Holding Corporation in September 2011. Prior to assuming this role, My. Mayer was President and Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Tutogen Medical, Inc., a leading manufacturer of sterile biological implant products made from human (allograft) and animal (xenograft) tissue, until it was acquired by RTI Biologics Inc. in 2008. From 2001 to November 2004, Mr. Mayer served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of VisEn Medical, Inc., a private biotechnology company focused on molecular imaging technologies. Prior to VisEn, from 1998 to 2001, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of ETEX Corporation, a private biomedical company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. From 1984 to 1998, he was with Zimmer Inc., a leader in orthopedic implants where he last served as President, Global Products Group. Mr. Mayer is a 1974 graduate of the University of Ottawa, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Pivot Medical and is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Synergy Orthopedics.
Randal Barrett
Mr. Barrett is Managing Director of Pioneer Capital Partners, a private equity fund manager and investor in expansion stage businesses. Before co-founding Pioneer Capital Partners in 2005, Mr. Barrett had 12 years experience founding, advising, investing in or managing a range of technology related businesses, financiers and governments in all major geographic markets - including as an attorney at a global law firm, an advisor to a major investment bank, co-founder and Chairman of a European telecoms company, and an investment executive at a private equity investment firm.
Based in Auckland, New Zealand, Mr. Birnie is the Chairman and Managing Partner of Birnie Capital Partners Limited, and has over 30 years of investment banking experience. Mr. Birnie holds a Bachelor of Laws and was formally a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand. He held the position of Chief Executive and Director of New Zealand based investment bankers, Fay, Richwhite with offices in Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, Sydney and London until the late 1990's.
In Addition to being a Director of MIL, OMNI's largest shareholder, he is a Director of Far North Holdings Limited, a Trustee of the James Wallace Arts Trust and Chairman of the KidsCan Charitable Trust. Mr. Birnie holds and has help a number of New Zealand Government appointments including Deputy Chairman of Sport New Zealand and Chairman of Sport new Zealand's Audit, Finance and Risk Committee. He is also a Director of High Performance Sport New Zealand.
Mr. Birnie is the former Deputy Chairman of the New Zealand Film Commission; a position he held for 10 years, and a past Chairman and Director of New Zealand's largest fruit exporter, ENZA. He formerly held the positions of Director of the Screen Council of New Zealand, Commissioner of the Hillary Commission and Director of Equestrian Sports New Zealand from which he received and Honorary Life Membership for his services in 2010. Mr. Birnie was also a Founding Trustee of the Wellington Stadium Trust and was Deputy Chairman of the then government owned Post Office Bank, prior to its sale to the ANZ Banking Group.
Mr. Pool is Chief Financial Officer at CoDa Therapeutics, Inc. a ventured back biotechnology company based in San Diego. His responsibilities include all fund raising, business development and financial & accounting functions and recently closed a $39 Series B financing and regional licensing transaction. Mr. Pool has over 20 years of investment banking, venture capital and business operational experience including mergers & acquisitions, privatization transactions, leasing, securitizations, venture capital raising and initial public offerings. Mr. Pool has raised over $100M for early and mid-stage Biotech companies. Prior to CoDa, Mr. Pool was Promtemix Corporation's Chief Operating and Financial Officer for 5 years. Mr. Pool holds a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting and business administration from the University of Canterbury and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand.
Dr. Reinaud is a Partner at Innovation Capital. Before joining CDC (Innovation Capital’s Parent company) in 2009, Florian was the CFO of Paris-based DBV Technologies; a biotech company specialized in allergy diagnosis and treatment. Prior to that, he worked for 4 years at Apax Partners in Paris, one of the leading venture capital and private equity firms in Europe with over €2 billion under management. As part of the healthcare team, he invested across all stages of company maturity, from start-ups in the biotech and medtech fields, to growth capital and large buy-outs in the healthcare services field. Previously Florian was an equity analyst at Schroder Salomon Smith Barney (Citigroup) covering the pan-European medtech and healthcare services sectors as part of a team that was consistently ranked as one of the top two in Europe. Prior to that he was a doctor working in the UK’s National Health Service (Accident + Emergency and Internal Medicine). Florian holds a medical degree from Imperial College in London and a BA (hons) in Physiology from Oxford University.
Mr. Johnson has spent over 30 years in the Medical Device Space, the last 15 years leading companies on a global basis. He has led companies in both the public and private sectors, producing superior results. In 2008, as CEO of Convatec, he led a Private Equity Buy-out of the Bristol Myers Squibb division which netted $4.1B for shareholders. Convatec went on the become a $1.7B global leader in a number of key categories. Currently, Mr. Johnson has taken on the role of CEO and a member of the Board of Directors for a public start-up company called Alliqua Inc. out of Langhorne, PA. In addition, he currently sits on the advisory boards of Flextronics and Wellmedix. My. Johnson received his business degree from The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and is a fellow from The Wharton School of Business.
